Technology and user habits evolve rapidly. A website built 5 or even 3 years ago may now directly damage a company's reputation rather than help it. Many business owners do not notice customers leaving because of shortcomings in the website itself.
The first and most critical sign is a lack of mobile responsiveness. In Armenia, 70–80% of internet traffic comes from phones. If text is small, buttons are difficult to tap and images extend beyond the screen when the website opens on a phone, you are losing the vast majority of your customers.
The second sign is slowness. Google research shows that if a website takes more than 3 seconds to load, more than half of users close the page and move on to a competitor's offer. Outdated CMS platforms, unoptimized large images and old hosting often make a website disproportionately slow.
Other important warning signs include a missing SSL security certificate (the browser's ‘Not Secure’ warning), failure to reflect changes in the business's services, and an administrative panel so complicated that even changing a phone number requires a developer's help.
